Titanic, pride of mankind

Up and up the flags arose,
Down came her stern, from the dry docks bold,
The M.S. Titanic, in a dream of a pose,
There sat she, in the sea waves cold.
“Hooray” they all cheered, with their hands held high,
“God himself could not sink this ship” said someone solemn and proud,
As she left her harbour with her shoulders held back, her fist reaching for the sky,
As God watched from above, on glistening, snow white cloud.
Like a majestic eagle she flew,
Cutting the sea, like a bird does the air,
With her seemingly ever-watchful crew.
Then like crystal, fragile and weak,
Struck an iceberg, at full speed,
Her future, looking bleak,
Then men of her deck, they took heed.
The bow of her, it could not hold,
Down in the depths, is now this mighty craft.
Dead yet not unheard, are the voices of old,
Through the air of today, they still waft,
Stories of man’s pride, selfish and oh, so cold.

Alone?

I'm all alone,
In a crowd of people,
I'm by myself,
Under this lowly steeple,
I'm down on my knees,
I'm praying.
Now I'm by myself,
And no ones stay' in,
Yet somehow, I'm not alone.

A wasted day

As the bright moon shines,
On this lowly face,
As I sit here resting,
From the world’s rapid pace.
Another day gone by,
Another hour to waste,
Another cheerful soul,
I left in my haste.
A blanket of the midnight sky,
Falls upon the earth,
As another wasted day,
Another hour lost its worth.

My life

Oh sun that rules this sacred sky
Oh moon and stars in the heavens high
Warn her of this heart of mine
The heart that’s filed with twisting vines
And lies to cover up from here on in
The dirty, wrenched, stains of sin
That I put on this heart of mine
Yes, I, a spiteful, wretched swine
~
Now Jesus has purged this heart of mine,
The heart that belonged once to this slothful swine
Yes, upon the cross, he painfully died
With nails through his feet, and whip marks on his side
He sent me a spirit, deep within
Now I call out to him, now I, his kin
~
Now I must go around the earth
And tell every one of my new found birth

the lord my God

In the brightest of days
In the darkest of nights
Whether the cold wind blows
Or the sun shows its might
As a curtain of shadow
Fell on my soul
You filled me with gladness
 Yes you made me whole
As sure as the beating of my heart
You are with me
As the rhythm of your joy
Tugs at my knees
I am dancing in your might
I am singing at your sight
Till my knees can keep me up no more
I’m singing to you, lord
